Rest Stop to be Built at Beaver River
Duluth News Tribune (2.23.2014)
Construction will begin this summer on a rest stop next to the Beaver River in Beaver Bay. Currently, the building site is undeveloped and used as a parking lot for tourists, hikers and anglers. It’s also a well-known stop for photographers interested in capturing nearby Beaver River Falls.

According to Arrowhead Regional Development Commission Senior Project Leader Bonnie Hundrieser, the completed project will be a premier destination for travelers and should promote greater economic activity for the area, since tourists will have a place to stop and explore local businesses.

“There will be a total of six interpretive panels at the site that will educate people about the history of the area,” Hundrieser said. Kiosks will educate people about the historic use of the Beaver River, identify Beaver Bay as the first settlement along the North Shore and provide information about the local scenic byways. Meeting: Broadband Discussion
ARDC (1.6.2014)
On Tuesday, 7 January 2014 beginning at 2:00 p.m. ARDC will host a Broadband Discussion at the ARDC building in Duluth. We have been invited to host Senator Matt Schmit, D-Red Wing, who is holding similar discussions around the state. Senator Schmit is an active proponent of broadband.

Senator Schmit states, “I'd like to hear about the experiences (good and bad) local communities have had with broadband service. I'd like to know what kind of vision communities have for broadband and how they view its potential impact on economic growth and quality of life. I'd also like to talk about specific applications folks may have in mind (tele-health, e-commerce, education, etc.), as well as any challenges encountered in getting access to affordable and reliable broadband service.”
